Robotics Exhibition

30 / 09 / 2024

On September 28 and 29, as part of the 8th edition of the Subúrbio Ferroviário Sports Festival, the Robotics Exhibition was held with great success, featuring active participation from students and a warm reception from visitors. The exhibition showcased a series of innovative projects developed by students from first to eighth grade, demonstrating their learning in robotics and electronics through impressive creations.

Among the highlights of the exhibition, the robotic hand and the fruit piano captured the attention of both children and adults. The robotic hand, controlled by servos and programmed with Arduino, amazed with its precise movements. The fruit piano, using fruit as interactive keys, delighted visitors by allowing them to create music with simple touches, providing a playful and unexpected experience.

The interaction with visitors was a key moment. Many actively participated in the experiments, interacting with the projects and being surprised by the quality of the creations. The free nature of the institution was also a source of admiration for the visitors of the Sports Festival, reinforcing the positive social impact of the event.

A father’s testimonial
“It’s simply amazing to see children at this age creating such advanced projects, things that even adults might find complex. I wonder how much more I could have learned if I had access to robotics courses as a child. Maybe I would have even chosen a different career path. Congratulations to the students for their talent and dedication and to the teachers, who are surely doing an extraordinary job guiding and inspiring these boys and girls.”

Despite the success, some challenges emerged during the two days of the event. The main challenge was the impact of lighting on the prototype arena following the finish line. Due to changes in sunlight throughout the day, the sensors had to be constantly adjusted and recalibrated, as the change in light intensity affected the accuracy of the line detection. This highlighted the importance of adjusting environmental conditions to ensure optimal sensor performance.

The flow of visitors was steady, but the highest traffic occurred during transitions between matches. Several parents visited the exhibition to appreciate their children’s work, which made the students even prouder, visibly happy to explain and showcase their projects to their families.

Overall, the Robotics Exhibition was a great success. Both the students and the local community were able to see firsthand the power of technological education. We thank all the participants and will continue working to improve and expand the experiences offered.
