The João Paulo II Educational Center took another important step in strengthening scientific education by officially inaugurating its new Science Laboratory on May 8th. The space was created to provide students with practical experiences that complement the contents covered in the classroom, making the learning process even more dynamic and meaningful. The inauguration also marked the beginning of activities in the laboratory. The first class held in the new laboratory involved the 9th grade class, during a Biology activity led by Professor Jailton. On that occasion, the students explored the topic of nucleic acids through an experiment extracting DNA from plants, putting into practice the theoretical knowledge studied in the classroom.
The creation of the laboratory represents an important advance in the institution’s pedagogical structure. More than just a new physical space, the environment expands teaching possibilities by allowing students to experience science concretely, stimulating curiosity, investigation, critical thinking, and autonomy in the knowledge construction process.
With more interactive and experimental classes, students gain direct contact with scientific procedures, strengthening their understanding of the contents and sparking interest in different areas of science.
The implementation of the Science Laboratory was made possible thanks to a fundraising campaign promoted by the NGO Kreatio, based in Switzerland. The initiative gathered the necessary resources, allowing the acquisition of materials for the assembly and structuring of the space, which now becomes part of the pedagogical routine of the João Paulo II Educational Center. The inauguration of the laboratory reaffirms the institution’s commitment to quality, innovative education connected to the needs of the contemporary world, offering students new opportunities for learning and academic development. Our gratitude to our friends at the NGO Kreatio who provided us with such a valuable advancement in the educational approach offered to our students.
