The 9th Festival Esportivo do Subúrbio Ferroviário kicked off on August 28th, being the annual event promoted by the Humano Progresso Brasil Association and held at the João Paulo II Educational Center. The Festival is a sports event aimed at children and young people, featuring basketball, handball, and futsal, as well as dance performances, karate, and other activities of interest to the public. The event brings together students from public and private schools, leagues, sports groups, and NGOs from the city of Salvador and neighboring cities, such as Simões Filho and Feira de Santana, among others.

The Festival Esportivo do Subúrbio Ferroviário aims to promote social inclusion and human development, using sports as a tool to inspire young people, create connections and strengthen the community. Each event spans four consecutive days, bringing together approximately 4,000 people on weekends.

In this edition, the first competition to take to the court was basketball, featuring 25 teams across different categories: nine under-18 and under-16 teams, four under-14 teams, and three under-15 girls’ teams. The teams and matches unfolded on the court, sparking intense emotions, including cheers from the fans, tears, and excitement at the spectacular shots. During the first week of the Festival Esportivo do Subúrbio Ferroviário, on August 30th, the program also included a live music show, with performances by artists such as Real Kaos, Anne Heru, Hebert, Bbzin, Abis, Elaay, Esdrixx, and Uxé, transforming the event into a grand celebration of culture, sport, and community. The audience loved the show, and the artists shined with their intense, rhythmic music.

The IX Festival Esportivo do Subúrbio Ferroviário program will continue in the coming months, providing more opportunities for integration, sports and community celebration. From September 25th to 28th, it will be time for handball competitions, a sport that promises to liven up the courts with intense and energetic matches. From October 23rd to 26th, futsal competitions will take place, traditionally attracting large audiences and sparking the passion of young and old alike.

Even before the competitions, the students were already showing enthusiasm and high expectations. Many of them enjoy the integration program, the activities offered to children, and the family bonding time, transforming each day into a true celebration of community bonds.

The Festival Esportivo do Subúrbio Ferroviário is establishing itself as a meeting place for generations, where families connect, young people are inspired, and talents emerge. With each edition, the event reaffirms the power of sport to create bonds, spark dreams, and strengthen the identity of the Subúrbio Ferroviário, leaving lasting impressions on all who participate.
