On May 16, students at Centro Educativo João Paulo II participated in another edition of the Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympics (OBA). The test, held throughout the country, is an initiative of the Sociedade Astronômica Brasileira (SAB) in collaboration with the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) and aims to encourage children and young people to develop passion for Space Sciences.
At Centro Educativo João Paulo II the participation in the OBA test confirms its commitment to a comprehensive education and to the constant stimulation of scientific research and curiosity. By addressing topics such as astronomy and astronautics, students are encouraged to exercise logic, curiosity and develop an investigative eye. It is an experience that goes beyond classroom teaching and contributes to the development of more critical, creative and open-minded young people: after all, dreaming big is also part of learning.
The Olympiad is divided into four levels, from the first year of elementary school to the third year of high school. In addition to promoting knowledge, the OBA offers students the opportunity to distinguish themselves at a national level, with the right to a diploma and a medal depending on the results obtained. The questions of the test cover topics such as lunar phases, meteors, constellations, gravity and satellites, always adapted to the level of education of each participant.
More than a test, the Olympiad is an invitation to imagination, research and wonder towards the unknown. Embarking on the study of astronomy and astronautics also means to rescue the ability to observe the world more closely and dream of possibilities that go beyond the boundaries of what we already know – a real incentive for our young people to become curious and creative citizens, prepared for the challenges of the future.
