Karate
My participation in the education through sport project at the João Paulo II Educational Centre began in a mix of enthusiasm and anxiety, with the former greater than the latter.
It was a pleasant challenge and an opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge: I was called to introduce karate and the theory of this martial art to the students of the Centre.
Karate is based on the Japanese culture, doctrine and discipline. Sports discipline benefits children and the fact that karate comes from another country and culture translates into an opportunity to learn even more. In karate, patience, self-control, but also decision making and strength are fundamental aspects.
The response from the students exceeded my expectations: they quickly learnt the rules and welcomed with interest the training proposals offered.
In this way, I was able to experience the growing interest of our athletes in the methodology and practice of the discipline, and to count on the total support of the excellent administrative team of the João Paulo II Educational Centre, which was essential for the success achieved by our students.
